Marsh—Last time I saw yr. prints they were between a half-filled coffee cup + egg stained plate. Sorry, can't help you w/ locating 'em. Did anybody put syrup on 'em & eat 'em? M

Bonnie—When Tweedle-Dee & Tweedle-Dum traipse off to the desolate corn fields of the north, we oughta arrange a rendezvous in Laguna, have a BBQ, hear some tunes in a nighty club...Whatcha say? M

The lower half of my better half. St. Louis—Colorado Springs=817 miles; Colorado Springs—Los Angeles=1061 miles; Los Angeles to Albuquerque=807 miles Assimilation of information itself is not as crucial as SETTING UP the frame-work within which it can [be] processed.

In a yr. or 2, somewhere. (I look north, north-west). Photo work is also coming together. More shows. Argus is cool, tolerates the fact that L.A. has advantages for me, bummer for him. We don't get out enough. I look to the next 9 months as a crucial, pivotal time. By next summer I'll be fairly crazy—I work 12-18 hours a day. I'm thinking of trying for a 4-6 wk vacation @ C.C. doing the photo inst. gig. I've resigned myself to being short of bucks for the next 5-10 years, not to mention short of time.

Curiosity + daydreams of the future can make the present uncomfortable and what is past regretable [sic]. So says the fugitive.

Dear Bonnie—Did we really talk on the phone last night? Or, was what we discussed the intense result of my dinner? [ie: indigestion...] Oh well, Oct 7, huh? M

M+B: Did you know that Maxwell's expanded? Back room... B—Never did receive anything about that (fantastically surreal) union you spoke of on the phone; M—Recognize the rear on the reverse of this card? I hate 100º weather, still can't go nuts over the beach. Dealing w/ school makes me cranky. I resent not having money—though it's because of where I am; I wouldn't care if this place were pleasant. Living here instills a desire for power, which I'm not sure of the value of. Oh well, later M

Summer was great back in Colorado on Royer. I'm going full blast here w/ same old things dragging. Trying to work up a job @ C.C. We'll see. M

Bonnie: Do you, or your boyfriend, have any notion what the issue (month, volume, and/or #) identification was of LEVIATHAN, that bad reproduction experience we had in Colorado Sprgs? My latest endeavor is to get as much sleep as possible. Unfortunately I haven't yet had the time for it. M

Marshall—Thanks for yr. thought-provoking comments on my writing, I need as much feedback as I can get concerning it. Would you be interested in doing a joint piece of writing? Maybe we can plan a get together Fri nite or Sat morning before shindig @ BC Space Dec 9? I never did hear how Joshua Tree was.....or the outcome of the engine that expired.....Went up to the Sierras last week, but got snowed out premature to the planned end of the trip. First time up to 11,000 feet since Colorado. Butt-ass cold, too. Gus packed his own food up. cute. M

The fourth quatrain becomes of utmost significance (ask the fugitive from fiction). Why? Because it is for you, for me, for everything.............

Marsh: Give Ben [Benschneider] some time to breath w/ it. If no answer by time I return (Feb 2) I'll call him. Mailed 1st yr. summary on to Gary [Metz]. I think I'm @ SC another yr—but it's hard to tell. What the hell, I might be out this semester. The place is in turmoil. You + señorita bonita coming up? Made reservations @ 4 Oaks for Sat Feb 3 @ 9 o'clock. Let's meet in Inglewood, afternoon? M

B+M: What fun! Little snow, little playing, lotsa food, no cares. Remind me to retire @ age 35, after I have amassed a great fortune, and to spend a part of my winter in the snow. Photographically, well—it's the midwest. I suppose that's life. M

The 3 basic rules to surviving and enjoying life in the big city: 1. Don't think about where you are—in fact, it helps if you don't think at all. 2. Make lots of money. (It's easier to starve to death the bigger the city.) 3. Always tell yourself that where you are at any given moment is the best place to be.
