1.16.74 Dear Dave: Again, I AM sorry for my lack of consideration. I hope this beyootiful photo of the Rockies will erase at least half of the bad feelings. XO Bonnie [star]No publisherDave FreundBonnie LambertCoPhoto20221974-01-17T06:00:00ZImageBonnie Lambert and Peter Galassi to Dave Freund

Rochester-by-the-sea July 26 [text from Peter] Bet you never made any 3-D cards! Hope your summer of freedom is fun. I missed you when I was in NYC—where I totally muffed my lengthly interview w/MOMA—though still haven't received final word. Best, Peter [text from Bonnie] David—When one is writing on the ocean it gets a little squiggly. In a week I am leaving for Montana & Colo. What have you been doing? On Sat. we are going to hear Benny Goodman. xo BonnieNo publisherDave FreundBonnie LambertPeter Galassi1974-07-27T06:00:00ZImageBonnie Lambert to Ellen Manchester

Saturday Dear Ellen—I wish you were here—it is just before sundown & everything is hazy & lavender & streaks of yellow. The mountains are like big lolling animals. Have decided NOT to go to the regional SPE meeting: each photo etching I make costs about $13. (if I'm lucky which I haven't been yet.) So, want to save those bucks for art & NYC Xmas. Today I asked 2 complete strangers if I could take photos! Do you believe it?! Miss you. xo BGLNo publisherBonnie LambertJean WaltherEllen ManchesterCoPhoto20221974-10-01T06:00:00ZImageBonnie Lambert to Ellen Manchester

2/19 Dear EM—thanks for the fat [heart] letter. Your stationery is great! Cal Sparks is at DU & Barbara Houghton is at Metro. The new visiting artist is Ann Shapiro—a painter from San Francisco; she is wonderful! Her paintings are emotional, colorful, jewels! Dear Dave—Have we found a bar for you! The Zanzabar. Very cowboy. A bull-rider in a white hat asked me to dance: "Where you from?" "Boulder." "I bought a pickup in Boulder. You a college girl?" "Yes." "I thought so; you look pretty smart. Can I take you home tonight?" "No." "Why not? I'll probably never see you again." "Right." See you in Aug. Saturday Dear Marshall—You won't believe it; we are in West Des Moines! Trying to find out why the car keeps missing...a good trick on a Saturday. So, as you can see we are not making great time. Nothing major though. On to Chicago, I hope. Iowa is purdy + has rolled hay. Dear Marshall, Well, in terms of getting famous, nothing has happened. OK Harris only deals with "cold + dispassionate realism," my pics are "too mystical." Light Gallery is putting me off because V. [Victor] Schraeger is just back in town from Europe; but I will persist. I will take the stuff to the Modern today, + have a lunch date with the guy at Castelli Graphics—he used to be at Light, + is as friend of Peter's [Galassi]. Shuck + jive. Spent yesterday lugging my prints around Soho...No publisherPeter GalassiCoPhoto2022Victor SchragerBonnie LambertJim DineMarshall Mayer1976-06-30T06:00:00ZImageBonnie Lambert to Marshall Mayer (2 of 3)

6.30.76 continued and then just wandered around little Italy trying to resist the pastry shops (I didn't, I finally stopped at the Palermo Cafe + indulged my over-active sweet tooth.) This trip was/is very good for dispelling all sorts of emotional-romantic ties with Peter [Galassi]. Will explain more when I see you, which is too far away. xoxoxo BonnieNo publisherBonnie LambertMarshall MayerPeter Galassi1976-06-30T06:00:00ZImageBonnie Lambert to Marshall Mayer (3 of 3)

later the same day. found this + a few other treasures for you on my walk home. It is very hot here + of course, wet. I am really getting into iced coffee—I'm having my 3rd glass for today. Saw a show of Japanese kimono—exquisite things. One took a year to tie (for the tie-dye) + a year to untie. Now that is art! Wish you were here with me. Thursday July 1, 1976 Dear Mark—NYC is mostly weird & sweaty. Lots to look at & to smell. Yesterday at the Whitney I saw a whole roomful of religious furniture made out of silver & gold foil. It is the best art I've seen so far, & maybe ever. Hope your bicentennial celebrations are memorable. 7.2.76 This is the cold eye of disbelief + this is where I am now. I'm at Light Gallery + Victor [Schraeger] is late, + I'm getting depressed 'cause I got your nice card, but it was sooo laconic + far away, + I stayed in bed too long or not long enough, + then when I did go out the wind was blowing real hard. later, having talked with Victor, I feel like I chocked [sic] on the Cracker Jack prize. Oh well, maybe I'll get over it after I eat my swiss cheese sandwich. love, BonnieNo publisherVictor SchragerBonnie LambertMarshall MayerCoPhoto20221976-07-02T06:00:00ZImage
