[from Marshall] Breakfast here wasn't the greatest but it was the only place in the last 110 miles. Didn't get too far yesterday—a little over 400 miles so will not get to L.A. till Tuesday noon. I can't believe we're actually doing this. [from Bonnie] Nothing too eventful yet: in Redcliffe—after M took a photo—we had to BACK out of town about 2 blocks, on a sheet of ice. M swore lots! I forgot the quarter for Las Vegas slots, but I'll lend you one. Eat the pecan pie + send me the pie plate sometime. love Bonnie [from Marshall] Also save the wreath in the kitchen! Marsh

Mark, I think you done it! Reminds me of a place in S. W. Iowa. How was your trip? How is my sister? Did Scott [McLeod] ever talk to you? Bonnie [Lambert] and I are on a shakedown cruise this weekend in preparation for September. Looks like all will be comfortable. We have to talk soon. Marshall

[from Marshall] Mark, Don't bother coming down cause we're coming up. Also want to see shows at LAICA + Mt. St. Mary's College. We'll be at you're [sic] place at 3:00 on Friday (Sept. 30). Leave a note if you can't be there. [from Bonnie] M—This is a Mexican version of me attacking Marshall in a fit of sexual passion (as assorted pets gaze on) (We went to Tijuana for an afternoon.) xo BGL

...with deep dish wheels, fat Daytona tires, stripes, tonneau cover, and Ming treatment. They didn't have a great selection so I settled on that which is nice. I got $1000 for the Rover—burned but those troubles are over. Now I have payments of $117 a month for 3 years but I'll have it paid for next summer. Costly loan. Brenda can take some slides of it when she comes through. 'Till then, Marshall

Mark & Brenda, I was down in Colorado Springs Friday + Saturday and I stoppet [sic] at the Hall of Presidents Wax Museum. I took a bunch of photographs inside but I think they are all underexposed. Fascinating place though. On Friday I bought a new truck—traded the Rover just before it died! It was close. The Mazda is red...

...nice boot to have. It's the red & blue fast back. You can even get jet sticks to put on them. So I put $20 down and you can get them when you come. Tell Patrick that this guy was my roommate at the academy last year. Write me back soon. How's Brenda? Marshall

Coney Island—Highway 285 between Golden and Fairplay. Mark, "I believe that you people, among other things, are obsessed with recovering a lost model of existence, a total life-style in which there are no boundaries between object and subject, between natural and super-natural, between waking and dreaming. It's involved some-...

Mark, Maybe this'll cheer you up a bit. It makes me real sad what is going on and I really wish I could be there to help you out. I know you're probably all alone and it hurts. We need each other this way too and I'll do anything for you. Marshall

Mark, Bonnie gave me a reel to go with your rod so I'll be trying it out. It was 115º in Needles yesterday—it felt more like a medium oven though. Can you firm up my job with Harry [Stein] so I can give Ken my notice while I'm up here? I'll call you soon. Marshall
