Dear Mark: This is just one of those weird ritualistic celebrations which is obsessed by some ancient religions and a few photographers—Homage to the longest day—June 21 Happy Summer Solstice 1980 Best wishes Graham [return address redacted]

Mark, Sounds good from up there! Make it down with Marianne ASAP. Here's my list of publications, etc: CONTEMPORARY CALIFORNIA PHOTOGRAPHY, Camerawork Gallery, S.F., 1978. THE GREAT WEST, REAL/IDEAL, Univ. of Colo., Boulder, 1977. ARTWORDS/BOOKWORKS, LAICA, L.A., 1978. DUMB OX #6/7, Spring 1978. That's all the available ones. LAICA JOURNAL will be publishing in fall. Bonnie [Lambert] will send hers along. Also have [Robbert] Flick contact me about that show he's thinking of doing (a suicidal attempt, I think). I will be in L.A. Aug. 9 but have a busy schedule. I'll call if we can get together. Marshall 05-26-52 Cover: grilled Hawiian [sic] mahi mahi w/ mashed potatoes and peas & carrots.

Mark, This is an example of my work for the book—I hope its' [sic] in one piece. Sorry we didn't get to look at you're book stuff—we actually came looking for you after the printer but nowhere to be located. I'll most likely be down for the 4th with some work—I'll probably call to verify anything. I moved—[address redacted and phone]. Just finished applying to Ferguson Grant to pay for this book—I sure home Scott [McLeod] can do a better job—200 line screen AT LEAST. We all want it nice. Molly's getting excited to come. Marshall

[from Marshall] Dear Ellen, I think we visited every Natl Monument in the West but this one. The vacation is almost over—we're going to Des Moines with Mark J. [Johnstone] this weekend. But first a trip to Boulder to work on business. When we get back there will be a slide show—we'll let you know when. Marshall [from Bonnie] Dear EM—I got a bad sore throat in Monument Valley, so we drove to Colo. Springs & I got to stay in bed (a real one, not the ground) ALL DAY. I feel good today. Will get in touch by phone next week. Can't wait to see our slides! xo BGL

Marsh—Rec'd books fr. Bonnie/many thanks. Suggestion re: OBSCURA (which I still haven't received in the mail)=document whole procedure + send to attention of NEA Visual Arts [it's the only kind of feedback they get re: programs, and is important] Best, Mark
