10/9/79 Chicago 5:30 a.m. Ellen—first thing—I need my mail would you please collect it and send it on. Thanks Honey! Is the sonar coming my way soon? Working hard and for the moment playing a little too hard. I like Chicago, always something to do. I have a list a mile long, whenever I get the time. Alex [Sweetman] is well, Barbra [ Jo Revelle] is a balloon now. Jim Henkel & I pal around a lot. His work is fantastic. Mark [Klett] should see some. Andy's [Ostheimer] coming out for Thanksgiving, meanwhile I'm keeping myself happy. Best of [to] all, Mark, Dave [Wharton], Jim R. [Romberg] Andy K. [Kent] Love Peter de

This place is indeed one of the wierdest [sic] places I've ever been. Five days of workshops—am somewhat burned out but also energized by a great group of students. Peter [de Lory] is fine, sends his best—see you sometime LATE Sat night? Love. Ellen

Dear Bon—Wonderful to talk to you the other night! God I miss you. Still really don't have many friends in Breckenridge, but things are looking better. May get a full-time job and NEA survey grant may come through. Went dancing with David Johnson at S.P.E.! He's fine, also saw Peter de Lory, Joan Redmond, lots of old buddies—not as as much fun as other S.P.E.'s though. Love to you both, Ellen forgot to mail this

Dear Bonnie—Well, had a good time with Andrea [Jennison] & Tom [Breeden], as you must've heard—how's teaching? Lots of fun, huh. My cold will no doubt peak tomorrow during my 3 hr class. It's raining. My car runs like shit. But enough of this—saw, right in NYC, Peter-uh-block-uh-you know-Aspen [de Lory], anyway, he's taking over Sun Valley—& in NY he was just the same. This was at "Collecting the Photograph"—Well, a lot of drinking & visiting & Chinese food—everyone was there. Nathan [Lyons] really boring—& no one, except [Peter] Bunnell, to the point. Best quote of the day: "The invention of photography was more important than the invention of chloroform." Mrs. Carlyle. OK, I give up—Which print do you have coming? Thought I done wrote it down. Hi, Ellen [Manchester]. Love, Dave P.S. You found that roll of drawings of my table?
