Isn't this a famous [Marshall] "Mayer" Great West site? What a town! Was rather chilly when we were there. Did I send you a card from Red Lodge? great town—back to work—Fall Quarter is in full swing and looking good—Nathan's [Lyons] here and in great/rare form! Hope to see you in Nov/Dec. Love Ellen

1/13/79 Dear Bonnie & Marshall: Life for the past few weeks (2 I guess, but it seems like forever) has been hectic, frenetic! Classes have begun. I feel more in tune w/ the students—I think! But the attrition rate will appear at any rate I'm sure. In a way it would be nice to be out of the artificial rat-race of photography. But you are (only) where you believe you are! Ha! xoxo, Andrea

Back in miserable Boulder—wind blowing etc. We had a wonderful time in St. James—thanks—Rex thinks he left his house slippers at your place (?) My new address is [address and phone redacted]. I LOVE living here. Went junk shopping for the 1st time I think I'm addicted—love Sue

B+M: What fun! Little snow, little playing, lotsa food, no cares. Remind me to retire @ age 35, after I have amassed a great fortune, and to spend a part of my winter in the snow. Photographically, well—it's the midwest. I suppose that's life. M

I have virtually no new postcard repertoire... The 6 miler sounds like quite a feat for feet! To say nothing of l'eggs. You make me feel out of shape! We got new skis! Nice! But snow is poor... I jump rope sometimes. Pall [?] & Jody stopped overnite en route to Grand Junction. Good to have them here. xo, Andrea

4/16 Yes, another S.P.E has passed. Not a very exciting one program-wise. Ellen [Manchester] was very busy—didn't see her much, but I was busy too. We've moved from Stephanie's in with another couple 'til June 1. Then what? After Al & Honeybee leave to live in Wisconsin, we'll have the CMC apt. Don't know when we can get a loan & mortgage for construction! Hard to do. xoxo, Andrea & Tom

Dear Bonnie & Marshall, I was hoping to see you at S.P.E. But you didn't make it. Sorry I don't communicate much. I do think of the two of you. Hope all is well. Things are going fine with J. and me. I've been printing color the last month. Exciting. Love Scott & Janet

Dear Bonnie Jean & Marshall—missed you @ SPE. The motel was next to a SAC base & B-52s roared over head night & day. Are you folks comin' out west? If you do, come & see me. Marshall: I am reading A. [Alan] Sekula & M. [Martha] Rosler & I am confused.... Sue Robinson

Ahh, the sense of cleansing upon crossing the desert, entering sweet smelling mountains w/ a fresh blanket of snow.....Royer is more or less the same ("new" refrigerator), comfortable + familiar. Yesterday Argus dug up a long stashed bone. All 3 of us dig it. Sunny in the days, cool @ night. The usual changes—weddings, break-ups, moving on, ahh life in C. Sprgs!

Welcome to LA! What part of town are you in? As long as there are a few palms around I'm sure you'll both feel at home. Any Agave Americanus? Hope to get up to Breckenridge this wkend but it snowed there a couple of days ago. This summer I'm working part time w/ Nat'l Park Architects drawing renderings of an old abandoned for near Mont.—N.D. line. Will stay in Denver though. XO Pablo
Susan Mogul to Bonnie Lambert
from MOGUL [address redacted] BONNIE—Thank you, thank you. My performance was very difficult to document. Your exposures are great—the color is beautiful—the black & whites look good too. My only complaint lies with my own planning—there are some staged photos without audience that I would have liked to set up. There was a specific tableau I wanted that is impossible with audience present. PUBLIC ART SURE HAS IT'S [sic] PROBLEMS. Warmly Susan

Dear B&M—Howdy doody to you. Been up in Breckenridge a lot lately taking color workshop w/ John Divola. I guess he knows Mark J. [Johnstone] & stayed w/ him in C. Spgs. Printed some nice cacti pix & find it most enjoyable! Go to Arkansas (Ozarks) next week & hope to dip in hot spgs & maybe photo old resort areas—some deco some Victorian. Will send you p.c.'s. Made a real good cherry pie from own backyard harvest. What area L.A. R U in? XO P.

Dear Bonnie and Marshall, I've never worked so hard in my entire life! Incredible. What price "fame?" I could bury myself in a hole quite comfortably right now. Tom & I are dead. Summer program almost over. Very much a success really...but the work!!! And we get to start over again. I'm going to ME: Aug 31-Sept 24. Tom: Aug 31-Sept 17. Classes begin the 24th. Hope you'll still be out here. xoxoxo xo, Andrea

Dear friends—I would like to have this on my wall of trophies, but, then a jackalope would be nice too. I'm job hunting now too & hate it but it must be done if I want some $—hope I can find some drawing/illustration type work. Hope to do Long's [Peak] in next few weeks but Ely [his dog] can't go in park. xo P.

Dear Bonnie—I couldn't go back to sleep this morning so I was on the road at 9:30 and drove 600 miles. 115º in Needles. Truck + cargo OK. Thundershowers in Big Bear. Jack [Allen] gave me $200 traveling money so I'm in a motel tonight. I'm watching TV. Needles was the hot spot in the nation. Ugh! Traveling alone ain't easy. No pictures yet. Found a hiway diner in Williams. Stayin tomorrow night in Mesa Verde. xoxo Love Marshall

Dear Bonnie, Another motel in Cortez, Colo. Stopped at the Grand Canyon. And driving was beautiful yesterday. This morning am going to stop in Mesa Verde Ntl Park before going to Durango. There is no mailing address at the cabin but we do have a phone—[phone number redacted]. My sore throat hasn't gone away and last night I had the chills. May be visiting the doctor soon. xoxo Love Marshall

Dear Bon—Yellowstone sure makes me think of you. Remember this crazy mud volcano? Michael and I backpacked 9 miles into a beautiful lake for 2 days—had to come down early 'cuz I was afraid of the bears! Weather absolutely beautiful—going to splurge on room at the Old Faithful Inn tonight! Hope to see you late November/early December. Love, Ellen We should plan a trip here to x-cty ski!
Paul Briggs to Bonnie Lambert and Marshall Mayer
Dear B&M—Hope you had a happy halloween—I partied as a grizzly bear & did a few jigs. There is snow here now & I'm not ready for it after last yr's Big Freeze. But I did plastic all windows & weatherstrip doors so maybe I'll be warmer or else have to go to Calif. to heat up. What part of town are you in? Eagle Rk, Venice??? Where is Scott Ave? I've been busy learning color foto & have done some fashion views that I like. Saw Sue Robinson & had dinner at her Chautauqua cottage. Amy & Delly getting big! XO Paul
