Man can live without air for 4 minutes, without water for one week, without food for three months, and without a new thought practically indefinitely. What else can my overloaded brain say to me? Present address: [redacted] xoxo A&T More later...

Our letters crossed in the mail. It was good to hear from you at length & get the photos as well. I have 2 from you of Venice canals in kitchen between glass doors of "liquor cabinet." I am going insane I think. That period of rootlessness & rejecting any thought of Cheyenne roots, although I am quite stimulated photographically by austerity here. XOXO, A. WRITE SOON!!!

Dear B&M—I got your directions & shouldn't have any problems. I'll be traveling south through Ariz cactus country on way there & may see Kay Urry for a day in Tempe, so do not expect me until Wed 23rd. I hope I can help out with Turkeyday festivities & am looking forward to seeing you all. C. U. soon XO P.

Dear B&M—Happy New Year! Have been real busy over holidays but has been a very nice Xmas. Finally got all my slides back so will send for you 2 C after I make a few Xeroxes (?). I am still futzing with the plants I brought back—repotting, etc. & am very happy with these little "pets." How are your little pets? Still as wild? Best wishes to you for the new year. Paul

Dear Bonnie & Marshall—Are you there? Finally a punk enuf day here to get right to Christmas cards. And Happy New Year ones, too—What're you doing? Here I've redone my apt & redone my car—my life to follow soon, w/any luck. Been good year—NEA lottery winner & school gave me tenure. And my pea soup came out real good—need cozy smells on rainy days. Ah vacations—don't send me back to school, I'll confess—Love Dave

Have been working on a desert view drawing of Arizona repleat [sic] w/ jackalopes and UFO's not to mention cholla, saguaro, agave et al. Tonight I try & make a quiche—never tried before so hope it cooks well. Don [Morreale?] gave me 2000 of the same pc—a 40's Colfax motel card & I don't know what to do w/ them! xo P

Dear Bonnie—thanx 4 surprise pac—received in good shape. Here is a pic of an early rolling cafe, but head cook I don't see. Went to Cheyenne on wkend‚ just took it easy & went on a hike out Veedawoo [Vedauwoo] way. Very windy! I have some color xeroxes to send you soon of aquatic & cactus views, they look like frozen color TV. Adios amigos—Paul

Bonita: since you left me (inadvertantly [sic]) so many of yr. goodies, I'll keep the photos to deliver when I see ya next—unless I hear fr. you otherwise. M

Kiddies: Not this time... Lotsa stuff popping (although nothing big to notate, only that I no longer have the use of Beth's truck, nor Beth,—catch my drift?). I hope I can make it down in May sometime. My life runs at a casual pace approximating land speed records. M

Saint Louis is hectic and continually drizzly. As fas as what's happening photographically, it's all (grass) roots, about six feet under. After all, this is the heart of the midwest. The [Sam] Wagstaff show wasn't that interesting. M

Might have found a car, if so Andy [Johnstone] will drive it back. I show in small gallery next Feb. Busy trip. Good to be out of L.A. Back to the thick of things. M

NOTE [lizard] Dear B&M—Been going to mts. lately to see all the spring beauties coming up, but still much snow high up. Saw Ellen M. [Manchester] at restaurant w/ Breckenr. [Breckenridge] friends working on 20x24 Polaroid prints of Colo. mts. like old surveys. She looks good, but I haven't seen the pix yet. Want to, of course. Have had out-of-town friends & went to local roller coasters—try yours in S.D. [San Diego]! As ever—Paul

6/13/78 Dear Bon & Marsh: Loved photos sent. I suppose I've adulterated them by matting all in one frame, but it's such a nice drama! And I love looking at them. Surprisingly they arrived undinged. Went to Saratoga Hot Springs (Wyo) this weekend. Lovely HOT water. Paul [Briggs] came too & we met Cole & lover at the springs. Nice time! Remote campsite, lots of wildlife to see & hear. Saratoga is a very sleepy town which doesn't cater to touristy. Old & behind the times. Tiny too. It's fun for us to play together this summer. Must work on house too. Tom is doing a series (incidental) on young wrestlers (9-12?) weird! xoxo Andrea

Bonnie dear, What's shaking? You DO know of postcard show @ SoHo/Cameraworks ($2 per entry, July 4 deadline) & @ LAICA? (July 14 deadline, no limit). I now have NO money, but 2nd part-time job starts mid-July. Come up for BBQ! What's whooping w/ yr pics? How's the printer's? Hows the Lambert-Mayer cat farm? M

Bonnie—BC Space (Jerry Burchfield) in Laguna Space is looking for "high quality" B&W work to show next spring. They're building a new show room @ the end of the summer. Thought you might wanna look into it (it'll be w/in my reach for review purposes). Sherlock is in the hospital, but OK. Had to be operated on for cystitis. Mark

Dear B&M—Where did you get old of a crinkle-cutter (as seen on last p.c.)? I'd sure like one! Have been up to Wyo & camping with T&A [Tom Breeden and Andrea Jennison] in hot spgs. area. Very nice along Platte [River]—high water, huge cottonwoods, much wildlife. Was good to exit from city for while [sic]. Will go hiking above Ward [CO] tomorrow—still much snow. As ever—Paul

Bonnie & Marshall—Made my family drive two hours out of our way to go to the S&P lounge in Tillamook. They all thought I was crazy but we all agreed it was a pretty wonderful place. Thanks for the suggestion. TAKE CARE—hope to see you soon...... I found a home for one of your kittens.... I'm working on another. XO Mary-Linn
