...nice boot to have. It's the red & blue fast back. You can even get jet sticks to put on them. So I put $20 down and you can get them when you come. Tell Patrick that this guy was my roommate at the academy last year. Write me back soon. How's Brenda? Mark, Sorry I couldn't stop in on my way down from Montana but I arrived in the Springs at 2:30 am on the 21st. I am very much interested in submitting in your publication. Please send full details. I am studying w/ B. [Beaumont] Newhall and David Vestal here so it looks good. Should give my portfolio a boost. Mark, I got your postcards—choice of images incredible as always! I'll be down on the 5th or 6th on my way back to Arizona so we can talk then. I've asked Barbara to come along but if she can't, you might consider it. From 6th to 12th if you can get the time off. going to SPE [Society for Photographic Education] conference in Tempe with stops at Albuquerque and points between (Grand Canyon?). Barbara will know by Tuesday and if negative I'll call you. At any rate see you Wed. or Thurs. Photos by Marshall Mayer Mark, Sorry I missed you while I was up. I really wanted to see what you are doing and I had all my stuff along. I will have prints to you by the middle of March of a photo I have designed but not made. I hear the response is not prolific but I'll contribute and there are several more people who might be interested down here. I need Peter Carney's address in Arizona so send it ASAP. Marsh Tell me when your senior show opens. I'll come up.No publisherMarshall MayerMark Johnstone1975-02-10T07:00:00ZImageMarshall Mayer to Mark and Brenda Mayer (1 of 2)

Mark & Brenda, I was down in Colorado Springs Friday + Saturday and I stoppet [sic] at the Hall of Presidents Wax Museum. I took a bunch of photographs inside but I think they are all underexposed. Fascinating place though. On Friday I bought a new truck—traded the Rover just before it died! It was close. ...with deep dish wheels, fat Daytona tires, stripes, tonneau cover, and Ming treatment. They didn't have a great selection so I settled on that which is nice. I got $1000 for the Rover—burned but those troubles are over. Now I have payments of $117 a month for 3 years but I'll have it paid for next summer. Costly loan. Brenda can take some slides of it when she comes through. 'Till then, MarshallNo publisherBrenda MayerMarshall MayerMark Mayer1975-10-20T05:00:00ZImageMarshall Mayer to Mark Johnstone

Mark, Just arrived in the place of a lifetime after 48 straight hours of driving + pot. Found these two young lovelies in a gas station restroom. After a brief respite, went off to look for pink flamingos. No luck yet. See you the 27th. Mark and Brenda, Thank you for calling last night. You two are the greatest and I can't wait 'till September so we can do it full time without phone bills. Mark—here's the stuff. Brenda—you read this book too, it's about history not art. About the tapes erase them and make 3 tape [sic] of your good jazz. I've got Les & Eddie, Whether [sic] Report, Billy Cobham, Herbie's 1st, Brian Auger (sp) so don't repeat. Gary, The old prospector and his burro had left the mine for town in the middle of the day with an empty canteen. Both being thirsty, the burro finally said, "I think we'd better go back." The old prospector snorted, "You're crazy!" The burro turned to go but the old prospector stopped the burro short tugging on the reign. There they stood stubborn; neither right nor wrong.
