[from Marshall] Dear Ellen, I think we visited every Natl Monument in the West but this one. The vacation is almost over—we're going to Des Moines with Mark J. [Johnstone] this weekend. But first a trip to Boulder to work on business. When we get back there will be a slide show—we'll let you know when. Marshall [from Bonnie] Dear EM—I got a bad sore throat in Monument Valley, so we drove to Colo. Springs & I got to stay in bed (a real one, not the ground) ALL DAY. I feel good today. Will get in touch by phone next week. Can't wait to see our slides! xo BGL

Nov. 18, 1976 Dear Ellen—thanks again for the "party." I'm really glad I made it—with much help—up there. Do you think that woman still wants to buy a print? I hope so, cause Marshall bought 2 of David's [Johnson] from his thesis show. Guess he did some very nice things. It is 70º today—I can't believe it! Video 4:00 Wed 11.24 FA. 116, if you can make it. love to you, BGL

2.12.77 Dear Barbara— The [heart] photo is beautiful! Thank you! I got a job waiting on tables at an outdoor restaurant. And Marshall [Mayer] is being a waiter at some hotsy-totsy restaurant near UCLA. How's school? It's really wonderful here. Bonnie

Oct. 3, 1977 [from Bonnie] Dear Mark—We returned home on Sat. pm to find 5 little kitties mewing + sucking. I went to this zoo, + the studio that made this photo while I was in Mont. this time. xo BGL [from Marshall] I will drop a line to Jack Allen this week about your employment. Just go by next week around 6:00 some evening and visit about Sunday work only. It's best to start slow. About $40 each Sunday. Good luck. Marshall
Bonnie Lambert to Andrea Jennison and Tom Breeden
November 1, 1977 Dear Andrea & Tom, It looks like I may have gotten a real job: photographer for a curriculum development co. But, most of their contracts are with the gov't., so I have to get a security clearance. Will take 3-4 mos. In the meantime I have found a crap job selling cameras (will take it if I don't get hired at a Xerox place this week.) At the good job I would do things like photograph a guy taking apart a rifle or defusing a land mine! Could be interesting. Lots of travel: that's the good & bad part. Any job for you, Andrea? How's Wyoming? love, Bonnie

Nov. 30, 1977 Dear Mark, Paul [Briggs] & I went to Tijuana on Sat. We had a real swell time. We'll have to go when you're here for Xmas. Crappy food, though. And no ladies & donkeys (although we kept our eyes open for that sort of thing.) xo Bonnie

Okay pimple head! I found my ugliest postcard to send to you: how come you never address ME in your correspondence? You think I'm retarded or blind? Creep. See if I EVER make you another pecan pie. I hope you get crabs in your beard! Your ex-friend, Bonnie

Dear Paul—Happy [Valentine]-day! Sorry this is late—wrapping things always blows me down. Thanks GOBS for the [valentine]. It is beautiful! The pic of you is one of my 1st attempts at color printing. I got promoted to breakfast cook! It's fun. xo [heart] Bonnie

2.11.78 Dear Mark, Look! Look! We took the BIG STEP! into COLOR. Am practicing for the garden apartment series. It's exciting, but won't completely replace B&W for me. Not too hard either, so far. I got promoted—to breakfast cook! I like it. Looks like we'll be up on Fri. Feb. 24th (evening) & stay till Sat. afternoon. That's if we both get the time off. Are you water-logged? How is 4 Oakes [sic] holding out? love Bonnie happy [heart] day.

6.23.78 [from Bonnie] Dear Mark, Things here about the same. I go to work 8:30-5, & Marshall works 1-9 or 9-5 am, so we sort of pass each other coming & going. We hope to go camping next weekend. I am going to Harmony this weekend to do photos (to be made into postcards) for George [Mayer]. We don't have much $$ either, & we have a $1000 bill from the IRS (M.-1975-76). That's a good one. xo B. [from Marshall] I won't ever get out of debt! Marshall
Bonnie Lambert to Marshall Mayer
Even though we don't live in Harmony, I think we make beautiful music together. Your little sap, BGL

Dear Mark—Can't make a trip to Laguna because Frick and Frack left me with a bummer car—Mark's funky mini-Honda. I'm only supposed to go to the grocery store, Club 30, etc. Am being lazy—reading too many New Yorkers! Wish I could come & visit. Are you thinking abt. Joshua Tree in Oct? xo Bonnie

Will write or call you from Billings if rendezvous looks possible. xo Bonnie This photo is one of the first out of our newly formed collaboration—hope to get lots done on the road.
