6/23 Dear Mark—Hope you had a great time in gay pree, and the weather was more co-operative than in London. I'm coming to LA 7/7 on my way to Friends workshop up north. I'd like to bring the work for Irvine to save the shipping & give it to you then; will be there the weekend. Let me know if there's a problem. Mats are 22" x 28", not 20 x 22. Best to Rob. Your pal—Stone

I am studying w/ B. [Beaumont] Newhall and David Vestal here so it looks good. Should give my portfolio a boost. I'll be up soon—Marshall

M—Thanks for the prompt return of the slides. Wish I could have been there for your talk. I'm buried in work here—keeps me from remembering that Steph went back last week. We had a good month together & she may come back for a short time in September. Meanwhile I'm pouring concrete & building fences—major housework forestalled by finishing a book. See you Xmas if not before. Best to R. —Stone

Don't worry about loosing momentum re my work; it'll stay in the back of your mind & something will click someday. There's a funny article on me & the pak pix in Polaroid's teacher's newsletter. If you don't get it let me know & I'll send you one. Hope all is well, love to R. Your pal, Stone

Dar Mark—Nice to see you get the lead piece in A.W. [Art Week] on Santa Barbara. Other than a split infinitive at the top of column three, you are still writing clearly, and you pull no punches. Did I get an uncredited postcard from you recently? Have you seen Baby Burchfield? Are you ever coming East again? All best & ho to R. Stone
