Tue. Dear Ellen—I certainly hope this gets to you before you leave. We're camped out here and it's so much better than THO [Timothy H. O'Sullivan] could have pictured it in his day. It's also a lot better than this pc. The water glows a turquoise & the rocks are stunning cream in the day/sunlight. This sunset was thinly overcast & it's almost dark. The water is still glowing turquoise & the mountains opposite are purple & mauve, the sky is lilac & purple & the sage & grasses are green & gold. Damn I'm impressed. We must come here sometime together. Found THO's picture & have not been able to get to it/ Road is closed. Found a Linda Connor at Thunder Mtn. I'll show you which one. The trip has been plagued w/ bad events but we go on. Water pump went out & we went to Provo & yesterday Jim [Houghton] broke a front tooth in half chopping wood. See you this weekend xx B.No publisherCoPhoto2022Linda ConnorJim HoughtonBarbara HoughtonEllen Manchester1978-01-01T07:00:00ZImageMark Johnstone to Ellen Manchester

Wed Ellen—On the way into Yellowstone my car started fucking up. The alternator messed up—so I stayed the night, blew off site seeing & headed on home. I stopped to ask a mechanic at a gas station what the problem was, and he said I could make it easy. Well I'm in Ft. Collins in a gas station & these really nice guys (tow trucker & the mechanic) were are trying to get me going. No dice. I'm now in a DELUXE suite at Holiday Inn F. C. got it cheap. Only room around & it's in a wing that's not finished. I've had my swim & a beer & in the morning I'll deal w/ my dead car. Good thing I've a sense of humor. Saw NO grizzlys [sic] but did see a moose. xo Barbara P.S. Thanks for such a good time.No publisherBarbara HoughtonEllen Manchester1980-06-26T06:00:00ZImageKenda North to Ellen Manchester and Mark Klett

10.9.79 Dear Ellen, It was good to hear from you. Your trip to Yellowstone sounded wonderful. I still love that place, even though I've been there 6 or 7 times. We haven't decided about SPE at Asilomar. We heard some of the agenda & it sounds deadly! Will keep you posted. Will you come to LA? I hope so. I didn't get an NEA. I must be the only one—they gave 98 grants. xo Bonnie xoNo publisherBonnie LambertEllen Manchester1979-10-10T06:00:00ZImageBonnie Lambert to Ellen Manchester
