Dear Kenda: Yessir, CJ was the key. I found him at home, called HH and he gave the high sign. If only he remembers the phone conversation for two days. My end of the book is all but done, thank god, and all I need from you is the big pic or a good 4x5 chrome thereof. Thanks for the Xerox of the fix sheets. I wish everyone were as efficient. Hope the Fall sees you settled & happy. I'll let you know when I need the final pic. Keep me a breast. xxx Stone

Dear Kenda—Your card arrive from Nippon & made me jealous. Hope the trip was as fine as it should have been. Sounds like things is jumpin' in B. this summer—home I can visit. Your chapter looks mighty fine—and some foxy lady parts in the pix! I'll call when we need the frontispiece. Best to E&M [Ellen Manchester and Mark Klett]. Stone

Dear Kenda—So far haven't seen your 20x24's (or for that matter, haven't seen Marky) since you left. But I'm sure they preserve your reputation. Was TERRIBLE [sic] disappointed not to see you @ SPE, as I'm sure were Ellen [Manchester], Andrea [Jennison], Mark [Klett] & the rest of the sick crew. It was a blast. Although more sedate than I'd imagined. Probably due to your own absence. I'm finally building a darkroom & ecstatic. Best to J.P. xxx Stone

[address redacted] Dear Kenda: I had hoped to have a more formal correspondence prepared by now but you may have heard what the heavens have dumped on Boston. Things move slowly with the roads closed and all but emergency vehicles illegal. Anyway, thanks so much for your positive letter. I should have something for you in a couple of weeks. We will certainly meet at Asilomar—I note you are demonstrating—it may be a good place to make illustrations. I look forward to seeing you. Best to E [Ellen Manchester]. Stone

22 August 1977 San Diego hazy/sunny and oceanish Dearest little "Kendle" Missed by only a few days when we stayed with lovely Eric [Renner] and Laurie. It was HARD to leave New Mexico. Feels good to settle in a bit with my sister & family after plenty 5 days of roadside Americana. Jeff [Fuller] did all the driving. Enjoying the stranger foliage, ocean, palms, west coast [illegible] and Balboa Park. So far I "hate" L.A. after only 1/2 day there. Headed north to see THE REDWOODS and I CAN'T WAIT. Also San Francisco. Home the 29th. Love, M. When will you be "home" Nice to see the ocean Hello Ellen [Manchester] Mark [Klett] JoAnne [Verberg] Alden [Spillman]
