Tue. Dear Ellen—I certainly hope this gets to you before you leave. We're camped out here and it's so much better than THO [Timothy H. O'Sullivan] could have pictured it in his day. It's also a lot better than this pc. The water glows a turquoise & the rocks are stunning cream in the day/sunlight. This sunset was thinly overcast & it's almost dark. The water is still glowing turquoise & the mountains opposite are purple & mauve, the sky is lilac & purple & the sage & grasses are green & gold. Damn I'm impressed. We must come here sometime together. Found THO's picture & have not been able to get to it/ Road is closed. Found a Linda Connor at Thunder Mtn. I'll show you which one. The trip has been plagued w/ bad events but we go on. Water pump went out & we went to Provo & yesterday Jim [Houghton] broke a front tooth in half chopping wood. See you this weekend xx B.

Dear Dave, I love the feathers! I put them, with the Chinese paper as background in an old print frame and they are now gracing my kitchen. THANKS. Alaska was BIG! I had a hard time getting a handle on it. The totem poles were too tall. But the worst was my BRAND new delux changing bag turned out to be a fogger when used in the sun. I lost my best shots! I could kill, or maybe sue. Listen to some great music, LOUD and think of me. Love, Linda

Dear Dave, Finding old photo cards—has not been easy—everything rots away easily here. Thanks for your cards that were waiting for me. The trip is going well, except that they lost my camera & tripod on my last flight—and haven't located them yet...I'm slowly freaking out but I haven't gotten hysterical yet. One more day then panic. Doing India alone after all—that is after the camera gets solved. More to come. Love, Linda

Dear Dave Dear Mr Deardorff sent me a new 8x10 bless him, the other one and tripod were stolen in Thailand. Pisser. But I feel born again. Lucky I had good friends I could port with while I weathered the storm. I'm in Ceylon now, lots of jungle and ancient ruins, all very beautiful and up my alley—but christ is it hot, in fact the middle of the day is impossible. Saw some trans medivans [?] in Singapore their bodies like pin cushions of knives and skewers, I didn't photograph them but I'll never forget it! I expect to be back by x-mss I'll give you a call when I'm in the city. Love, Linda

Found a place to live in only 1 1/2 weeks and have met 2 good people already. Job is on the way I know. Sorry our friendship has gotten so strange but I'm sure I'll live. Thanks John [address and phone redacted]

Dear Barbara My 5 months are just about over, I'm in Bombay now my last stop in India, then London, the East coast right before Christmas—dropped full blast into the middle of the craziness of X-mas, culture shock here I come. Asia has been amazing, not always pleasant but always fascinating. I've just about shot up all 1,000 sheets of film! I will be locked in the dark all spring processing! Even with all I've seen I still don't feel I understand—or have really experienced Asia, I've just been doing the tourist number only with a bigger box. I will be stopping thru Denver to visit my brother before returning to S. F. probably end of Jan early Feb. I'll give you a ring when I get in. Merry Christmas. Love, Linda
